Interior Primer Selections

There are many options for selecting the correct primer for many different surfaces.

Determining the correct one to use requires identifying the substrate, the surface preparation available for a specific project, what application methods are best for your project and what the final outcome is desired.

Often there are multiple choices, any of which will "do the job". As a result, cost and time need also be considered. One primer selected may dry too slowly for the project and another might not allow the finish coat desired.

With such a myriad of options a process of "elimination" (which primers don't fit my need) can be the easiest method of choosing the right one. Of particular importance is the environment in which you live.

Exterior exposures, which include high humidity, rain, snow, extreme temperatures and other conditions play an important role in the longevity of exterior coatings.

The links below open a new browser window with a listing of the most common selections and their purpose. Using these can help you decide which primer is right for you.
